My blog is an ongoing proof of concept and testbed for my WordPress performance and scalability projects. I’ve had requests from people to share how this site is set up and what it runs on. My blog is 100% hosted my myself and with my own know-how. Only the VPS server, e-mail and DNS is outsourced. The rest: Varnish Cache, Linux, WordPress, PHP, MySQL, memcached, FastCGI, and PHP are all on me to keep up. I automate as much as I can with one-liner shells scripts and WordPress plugins. I keep configuration files and code in a private Git repo in the event of a major server crash.
This server hosts websites for family members, friends, passion projects, worthwhile causes, and other muses.
